Turkish Data Protection Authority approved the first undertaking for cross-border transfers

Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (“Board”) has approved an undertaking for data transfers abroad on 9th February 2021 in accordance with its evaluations with regards to Article 9/2-(b) of the Law numbered 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data. The undertaking was submitted by a data controller operating in fleet leasing market.

In accordance with the decision published by the Board, it is now more important for the data controllers who transfer data abroad to accelerate their preparations for undertakings and submit them to the Personal Data Protection Board for approval.
